Microtech – a leading brand in pocket knives, especially double-action out the front’s as well as side opening autos – was founded in Vero Beach, Florida in 1994 and now runs operations out of Pennsylvania and North Carolina. The Hera is a relatively new OTF installment by Microtech. The same size as the UTX-85, but with more handle, a little less blade, and no glass breaker, the Hera has a more sleek and dressy look. If you love Microtech out the fronts but are turned away by the glass breaker poking out at the butt-end, the Hera is just for you. The handle also gets a bit of an ergonomic upgrade, as the Hera is just plain comfortable to carry. Bridging the gap between a safe-queen and an everyday carry knife, the Hera comes with a milled titanium pocket clip with a ball bearing so as to avoid giving your pants the well-known and annoying wear that comes with carrying a pocket-clipped knife. The Hera is one of those knives that you can forget you have in your pocket, but once it’s time to go, it steps up to the plate and impresses every time. Additionally, the Hera receives a bit more of a “sterile” look, as Microtech went away from printing the brand name and steel on the blade, so you’re left with a clean looking blade with premium steel to slice through all you need. The Microtech Hera is designed to feel ultra-comfortable in your hand, and they certainly do just that. With multiple blade color/style and handle color options, and more combos coming out often, you’re bound to find a Microtech Hera that you’ll quickly fall in love with.

Modern artist Scarlett Cussell is behind the gorgeous finish of this Signature Series Heras 6061-T6 aluminum handle. The black and white design mimics floral patterns and is sure to be a piece that will pop in your collection. On top of the already stunning handle design, this model features gold finished hardware, including Microtechs proprietary screws, the “x” on the thumb slide, as well as the milled titanium tip-down pocket clip. The first Hera with a single edge, this blade is nearly clip-point shaped, and is finished mostly black. I say mostly because the grooves on the blade are finished with a gorgeous two-tone gold and bronze/gray color. Needless to say, this Hera is incredibly awesome and unique. Adding this knife to your collection may be the least regretful decision you make in your life. Being such a high-quality signature series model, with a lot of work put into it, this Hera comes with a metal Declaration of Authenticity inside its box, showing pertaining info such as the model, blade steel and finish, handle material and finish, date of birth, serial number, and the signatures of both Anthony Marifone and Scarlett Cussell. This knife may just end up on your mantel, but we wouldn’t blame you one bit for wanting to carry it around town.
