The Hera is a relatively new OTF installment by Microtech. The same size as the UTX-85, but with more handle, a little less blade, and no glass breaker, the Hera has a more sleek and dressy look and feel. If you love Microtech out the fronts but are turned away by the glass breaker poking out at the butt-end, the Hera is just for you. The handle also gets a bit of an ergonomic upgrade, as these guys are super comfortable in your hand during use. Bridging the gap between a safe-queen and an everyday carry knife, the Hera comes with a milled titanium pocket clip with an incorporated ball bearing so as to avoid giving your pants the well-known and annoying fray that comes with carrying a pocket-clipped knife, while also allowing for easier pocket-deployment while still staying snuggly fit to your person. The Hera is one of those knives that you can forget you have in your pocket, but once it’s time to go, it steps up to the plate and impresses every time. Additionally, the Hera receives a bit more of a “sterile” look, as Microtech went away from printing the brand name and steel on the blade, so you’re left with a clean looking blade made of premium steel to slice through all you need. The Microtech Hera is designed to feel ultra-comfy in your hand, and they certainly do just that. With multiple blade color/style and handle color options, and more combos coming out often, you’re bound to find a Microtech Hera that you’ll quickly fall in love with.

This Hera is the perfect mix of tactical and practical. All Microtech knives are fantastic, especially their Hera models, but give any of them a single edged blade and you have yourself the perfect OTF everyday carry. This model comes with such a blade, single edged/drop point, coated black, and made of one of Microtechs premium steel offerings. The tip-down milled titanium pocket clip, with the ball bearing to keep from fraying, is also coated black to match, as well as the rest of the hardware. The 6061-T6 aluminum handle chassis on this bad guy is anodized with a rugged OD Olive Drab green. Everybody seems to love this color, including us at SRKT, and combined with a coated single edge blade, you can’t get much better.
