Knafs Co. Lander KNAFS-00156 - Stonewash Sandvik 14c28n Stainless Steel Drop Point Blade & Contoured Green Canvas Micarta Handle Scales w/ Black Reversible Tip-Up Pocket Clip & Hardware - Liner Lock Manual Folder w/ 2.75" Blade & Dual Thumb Studs | Designed in Utah, USA & Manufactured in Yangjiang, China by QSP Knife
The Knafs Co. Lander has sprung its way into our list of favorite affordable pocket knives. For less than $100, it's hard to find a reliably-made folder with solid materials and incredible action, but look no further. At this point, I (Nate) own three Landers myself, and I absolutely love carrying them (sometimes all three at once). Does this make me a Ben Petersen fanboy? Maybe, maybe not. Grab a Lander for yourself and see if you join the club.
Pivoting on ceramic caged ball bearings, the Lander opens smoother than most knives on the market, as a slight flick of the dual thumb studs sends your 2.75" drop point blade flying to an open position. Whether you're a slow-roll thumb opener or you like to Spydie-flick all your knives, the Lander can do it all. Once open, a push to the left of the partial liner lock drop shuts your blade back into its home, a sturdy steel frame encased by fast-swap handle scales. Speaking of those, the Lander is known for its ease of customization, as removing just 4 Torx-bit screws on each side of the knife allows you to remove just the scale and replace it with whatever you'd like. Ben & Knafs already have a load of offerings when it comes to scales, but if none of them suit you, you're even allowed to download the Lander STP file and create your own. Talk about being for the people. Add to that how easy it is for you to go to Knafs.com and get replacement screws, clips, etc and you've got a knife that has no excuse to not last you a lifetime.
Originally, the Landers came equipped with flat G-10 handle scales and CPM D2 tool steel. Now, the options are endless, and this model KNAFS-00156 is a bit more comfortable in the hand and features a more stainless steel in Sandvik 14c28n. This guy has contoured green canvas micarta scales that fit perfectly in your hand during use, while the reversible tip-up pocket clip & all hardware are finished black. The 14C blade has been stonewashed and is in the standard but versatile drop point style, having been flat-ground. If you skipped out on the original drop of G-10/D2 Landers, now's your chance to get an upgraded version. These Landers are designed by Ben Petersen himself in Utah, USA, while they are manufactured by ultra-reliable OEM QSP Knife in Yangjiang, China.
