Spyderco – the thumb hole company – has been around since the 70’s, and while they were originally known for their impressive and widely-loved Tri-Angle Sharpmaker, the Colorado-based company now produces a wide range of unique and dependable knives that you’ll love to carry every day. Since their first folding knife, the C01 Worker, in 1981, Spyderco has defined innovation in the knife industry, paving the way for new concepts with many of their models over the years. From using high-grade (and often hard to find on the mainstream market) materials, Spyderco is beloved by many. Many of their models have an odd design at first sight, but their differences are what make them such a powerful and reliable daily carry. Nearly every one of the Spyderco models that has come through Sawyer River has impressed us and met the checklist as an EDC knife. The US-based company produces high-grade pocket knives un the USA, Japan, Taiwan, Italy, and China, surely having a model that will fit both your style as well as your budget. The Spyderco PITS, designed by British knife maker Mike Read, known often as “Pie in the Sky” (abbreviated to PITS), the PITS is a great new knife with a full titanium handle and a super-steel Bohler M390 drop point blade. Featuring integral spring arms joined by a hardened pin, this non-locking Slip Joint manual has a great feel and a perfected design allowing for a safe and reliable pocket knife. One of those rare slip joints that you can easily open with one hand, the PITS comes with a reversible wire pocket clip, meaning everyone can join in on the fun of owning a Spyderco PITS. The skeletonized titanium handle, finished stonewash, allows the knife to be surprisingly lightweight, without giving up its ruggedness. The PITS is made in Italy, as shown on the clip-side of the blade along with Mike Read’s signature, allowing you to show off your professionally designed knife. Certainly one (if not the number one) of our favorite slip joints we’ve seen here at SRKT, the PITS is tough as nails and has a great look, making it both a great user knife as well as a gorgeous safe queen.
