Knafs Co. Lander KNAFS-00066 – Black Coated Stonewash D2 Drop Point Blade – Black Fast Swap G-10 Handle Scales – Black Reversible Tip-Up Pocket Clip & Hardware – Liner Lock Manual Folding Pocket Knife w/ Dual Thumb Studs | Made in Yangjiang, China by QSP Knives | Ben Petersen

The brain-child of the man behind the ever-popular WE Banter, Ben Petersen, Knafs is Bens first venture into the world of owning a business. A former “daily-grind” employee at Blade HQ and CRKT, Ben felt as if he had more to offer the knife world, and he has now proven himself right. Starting off with their now-famous knife poster, the go-to cheat sheet when it comes to blade shapes, grinds and more, Ben and his wife took the big risk of putting their everything into a startup business in hopes to get all of the awesome ideas that Ben has packed in his brain out into the world. From what I can tell through his social media posts and our personal conversations, there are a LOT more ideas that he has to offer to our growing community. We certainly cannot wait to see what else he comes up with.

Here we go: the first pocket knife offered by Knafs Co. The Knafs Co. Lander has landed and us at SRKT could not be happier. I will start with my own personal account of owning a Lander. Being a part of the Lander Kickstarter, I was fortunate enough to get my knives about a week before they arrived at the store. I have willingly carried one of either my black or stonewash model every single day since. That wasn’t really in my plans, but it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with this little guy. The first time I flicked the knife open, I could tell there was something good going on in the pivot: caged ceramic ball bearings. These things are so smooth to open that it is ridiculous. I’m not a big thumb-stud guy typically, but now I’m starting to think that I had just never come across a knife with studs that opens as smooth as a knife with a flipper tab. Remember: this knife is only $58.

The Lander may be a bit smaller than I originally expected, but after carrying and using it, I don’t see why I would need anything bigger. A 2.75” blade, flat ground, with D2 steel, the Lander is rugged-as-heck, without looking like a huge murder weapon hanging out of your pocket. So far, both of my Landers have done exceptionally well in breaking down boxes, slicing an apple, and of course, cutting my own finger while fidgeting. They are very sharp out of the factory.

Jimping on the semi-accessible liner lock allow you to close your knife just as easy as it is to open. Speaking of the lock-up, the liner-lock on these guys is incredibly strong, and has yet to even think about budging in either direction while locked open or closed. Another tiny section of jimping is placed in just the right spot on the spine of the blade, giving you tons of leverage while mauling cardboard. Now let’s get to the handle.

With G-10 scales over nested skeletonized stainless steel liners, the Lander is super lightweight and is balanced to perfection. For your daily carry, these guys come equipped with a reversible tip-up deep carry pocket clip. One reason Ben wanted to put his own knife out into the world is to offer the opportunity to fully customize your EDC. He certainly has made that possible, as the aforementioned G-10 handle scales can be removed in minutes (maybe even seconds). I have quite a bit of experience taking apart knives, and after removing the scales off of both of my Landers multiple times, I can attest to the extreme ease of customization. I'm so excited to get some new scales to throw on my Landers. Ben has already made up a few more G-10 color options to pair with your Lander, so I’m sure he will be putting out some unique scales soon. If you don’t want to wait, Ben and Knafs Co. even allows you to download the Lander STP file and design scales of your own. ALSO, its nearly impossible to void your warranty on these guys, and Knafs offers replacement screws, clips, and anything else you might break or lose while using and taking apart your Lander. Talk about being for the people. I have yet to come across a knife-creator that has been so oriented towards us, the consumers and collectors within the knife community. Having spoken with Ben a few times on various subjects, I can say without a doubt that he is a great guy, means well, and only has incredible things to offer the knife world. Hold onto your hats.

This model Knafs Co. Lander comes blacked out. The blade has an awesome black stonewash coating over its D2 tool steel. The fast-swap handle scales, as well as the hardware and pocket clip, are also finished black, giving this knife the ultimate look of tacticality. Personally, my black Lander is my favorite of the two, as the black stonewash finish on the blade is just plain awesome.

The Knafs Co. Lander is manufactured by QSP Knives in Yangjiang, China, a very reputable international manufacturing company.

This is a manual pocket knife with a 2.75” blade. Please research and be aware of your local knife laws before purchasing and carrying a pocket knife. SRKT is an authorized dealer of Knafs Co. products.
